How does batch processing work? Multiple documents submitted in one batch?

Batch mode is somewhat of a misnomer. Batch mode does not mean that multiple documents can be submitted in a batch. In batch mode, the document is handed over to an integration process that is set to run in batch mode. When a document is submitted to the web service in batch mode, it returns a document number almost instantly and does not wait for the document to complete processing. You can then call another web service method (GetDocumentStatus or GetDocumentRequest) to get the status of the document. Batch Mode is similar to "fire and forget".
